Hiking the Jablanica Trail

The hike along the Jablanica trail takes place every year on the first Saturday in April.

The hike is one of the traditional events organized by the Laz Rural Development Association, which also takes care of the Jablanica trail. The route is included in the wider regional project of hiking trails ‘Along the paths of the heritage of the Posavina Hills’. We want to introduce hikers to our panoramic route and local delicacies and the friendliness of the locals. The start of the route is at the fire station in Zgornja Jablanica, the final event is in the village of Gradišče pri Litija. The hikers are always welcomed by the locals from Zgornja Jablanica and offer them an apple, štrukeljce and tea as a symbolic entry fee. After a short climb to the church, you take a break while visiting the church of St. Anne and then after an hour’s walk again to the locals in Jablanška Lazi. Jump out of the way to see the old fruit dryer. The path is marked with wooden arrows, on which is the logo of the Laz association and the symbol of the valley – an apple. The narrow road through Spodnja Bukovica offers wonderful views. Then it will be necessary to climb up to the math church. It will be pleasant to sit with the math boys in the shade under a mighty linden tree. It will not be possible to get through the apiary and the green man without a stop at the friendly locals. After a five-hour walk, perhaps the last climb to the Gradiška church will be a bit redundant, and therefore it will be an even greater pleasure to sit on the sunny lawn in front of the church. If not before, the burning in Gradišče is again an opportunity to visit at the end of July. One last turn around Gradiške Hrib and we are already at our destination, in the village of Gradišče. The association and the villagers are preparing a real celebration with an entertainment program, also with the sign of ‘home’.
