As every year, we were kindly greeted and welcomed by the employees of the Mavrica Pension, which does business at the Marianum Veržej Institute. After settling in the rooms and dinner, we immediately started the activities. First of all, at the meeting, we reviewed the work done in the past singing season and confirmed the reports that our president Mateja dutifully prepared. We adopted an extensive work plan for the next season and agreed on other important matters.
After morning exercise and breakfast, we started intensive exercises and learning new songs on Saturday. This year, the accompanist Bojana Gajšek was a great help, who practiced separately with the singers of one voice, and the choir director Manca with the singers of two other voices. We mastered the melodies faster and sang learned songs very successfully during joint rehearsals. After lunch, we used our free time to walk in the fresh air and have an afternoon coffee in a nearby bar. The afternoon exercises took place in the same way as in the morning: with separate exercises by voice and a joint exercise of all the singers. Satisfied with the work done, we had an evening get-together after dinner. First, we toasted our September celebrants, who pampered us with Prleška gibanica, sweet drinks and various snacks. We also had fun and laughed at skits and social games.
We ended the singing weekend on Sunday. First, in the Marijanišča chapel, as every year so far, we attended the Holy Mass for our late singer Jelka, and after breakfast we continued with exercises according to the established order. During the joint rehearsal, we realized that the new way of working was easier, as we quickly mastered the songs and therefore ended the singing weekend very successfully. Pleasantly tired and satisfied with a job well done, we headed home after lunch.
All the singers are grateful to our president Mateja for the excellent organization of the singing weekend, and to the choir director Manca and accompanist Bojana for her excellent guidance and patience.
We are looking forward to new challenges, events and successes, because we are united by beautiful energy and the knowledge that together we can do more.
