The final event of the “H20 WR” project in Ruma; signed agreement during partnership

H20 WR ‘Town Networking and Engaging Citizens for the Protection of Water Resources in Europe’ 582565-Citiz-1-2016-2-RS-Citiz-NT

Project ‘H20 WR – Connecting Cities and Involving Citizens for the Protection of Water Resources in Europe‘ It co-finances the Europe for Citizens program, measure 2.2. of the City Network. The project was approved for co-financing in the amount of EUR 142,500.00.
The partnership includes the following places/organizations:
Municipality of Ruma, Serbia (leading partner and applicant)
Tourist organization of Ruma Municipality, Serbia
City of Našice, Croatia
Municipality Prag 9, Czech Republic
HICS – Human Innovation Group in Hungary
Municipality Rez, Bulgaria
Laz Society, Slovenia

The project focuses on water protection, civil protection and improving citizens’ involvement in public and civil measures that focus on water resources. The general goal of the H20 WR is to increase the participation of citizens in measures aimed at improving water quality, environmental protection and civil defense. Special goals are: 1) to increase citizens’ awareness of how to use EU values and approaches in the protection of water resources and the protection of communities from natural threats; 2) Improve cooperation between cities in the implementation of measures that protect water resources and residents from natural threats.

The goals were achieved by organizing 7 events from March 2017 to September 2018. Events include a mix of different methods to ensure the exchange of knowledge and best practices and establish new connections between partners. Among the events that took place were:

• Kick off event in Ruma, Serbia (from March 8 to 10, 2017) – organized by the Municipality of Ruma and the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Ruma

• 2nd event in the municipality of Prague 9 (from May 24 to 26, 2017) – organized by the Municipality of Prague 9

• 3rd event in the municipality Reason (from 1 to 3 p.m., 2017) – organized by the Municipality

• 4th event in Pecs and Szigetvar, Hungary (April 11 to 13, 2018) – organized by HICS – Human Innovation Group

• 5th event in Nasice, Croatia (16-18, 2018) – Organized by the city of Našice

• 6th event in Litija and Šmart near Litija, Slovenia (from June 14 to 16, 2018) – organized by the LAZ association

• Final event in Ruma and Irigo (September 11 and 13, 2018) – organized by the Municipality of Ruma and the Tourist Organization of the Municipality of Ruma.

By signing a network agreement between the partners at the closing event, the Partnership will continue to work together to address water protection issues (and other related issues) in the long term.
