The month of May is perfect for family trips and attending events that take place outdoors, in nature. When visiting the culinary event, there is also no need to take care of preparing lunch. At 10:00 a.m., the bank will smell of various asparagus and strawberry dishes. In addition to the already known ones (asparagus frtajla, risotto, pasta), the members will also prepare pies, roasted new potatoes, toast, the main ingredient of which they will be asparagus. For gourmets, they will prepare various strawberry desserts and pancakes with a special strawberry filling.
Renowned chef Robert Merzel prepares menus for the biggest protocol visits to Slovenia. He also holds culinary workshops in his little finger. During the day, he will teach visitors about the way to prepare the dish at the venue. You will also receive recipes for the dishes you will taste.
You will also be able to buy asparagus and strawberries to take home.
The Society for Rural Development Laz, which is the organizer of the event, promises an interesting program for all generations.
Older people will be able to walk around and see the offer at the artisans’ stands. For the younger ones, the animators are preparing children’s games, which today are almost forgotten – earth scab, blind mice, gumtwist, ristanc, Between two fires, etc. You will also be able to go on a ride with a waste car. You will all be able to spin to live music together.
Mojca Hauptman, president of the LAZ association, is looking forward to the large number of visitors: ‘Beauty and asparagus day is becoming a traditional event, as people like to go out into nature for culinary events, which are enriched with a rich accompanying program. There will be something interesting for everyone.’
Between 11:30 and 12:30, visitors will be able to test and renew their knowledge of basic resuscitation procedures on a completely new AED device under the mentorship of an experienced team of rescuers from the Regional Association of RK Litija.
Next to the event space is the Paternoster homestead, whose tradition dates back to 1850. The former farm building is intended for the socializing of various target groups. The specialty of the offer is sleeping in the hayloft and in the kaižas. The homestead is known for its milk processing, so visitors to the event will be able to taste their cheeses and other dairy products.
They prepare a special experience for the children on the farm, as they will be able to bake their own bread. A novelty on the homestead is the Slovenian apiary. But if you are interested in the life of bees, an observation hive will be on display.
The rest of the homestead’s offer includes receptions of various tourist groups, birthday parties, children’s camps, a camp and a rest area for motorhomes.
The event will take place at the already known location at the fire station in Breg pri Litija, Tenetiše 2.

Starting point Ljubljana: Leave the Ljubljana ring road that connects Ljubljana with Štajerska in Šentjakob and take it to Zasavska cesta. After a 28 km drive, you arrive in Litija, where you cross the bridge over the Sava River and continue in the direction of Zagorje ob Sava. After 1.5 km, turn right from the Zasavska road to the village of Breg pri Litija. Directional signs will lead you to the event space.
From the direction of Štajerska: leave the highway at Trojane and head to Zagorska dolina. In Zagorje ob Sava, cross the river Sava and turn right onto Zasavska cesta, in the direction of Ljubljana. After 16 km, you reach the village of Breg pri Litija, where you turn left. Directional signs will lead you to the event space.
From the direction of Dolenjska: leave the highway in Bič or Ivančna Gorica. Follow the roadside signs for the direction of Litija. You drive past Bogenšperk Castle. After 21 km you arrive in Šmartno pri Litija, where the mighty church stands. After a 2 km drive in the direction of Zagorje ob Sava, you arrive in the village of Breg pri Litija. Directional signs will lead you to the event space.
