Excursion of the LAZ association in Goriška Brda

An unforgettable sunny September Saturday in a fairy-tale landscape, nestled halfway between the Alps and the Adriatic, in the embrace of vineyards and history - Goriška Brda.

On Saturday, September 21, 2024, members and friends of the Laz association went on an unforgettable trip to the picturesque Goriška brda, where we enjoyed a rich cultural program and socializing.

We started the trip with morning coffee in Šempetro near Nova Gorica, where we were joined by the local tourist guide Irena. The first stop was at the Kostanjevica Franciscan monastery, where we saw the tomb of the Bourbons and the famous Škrabč library, full of precious book treasures.

Then we visited Villa Vipolže, a beautiful Renaissance building, where we felt the pulse of the past at historical exhibitions. The ascent to the Gonjače observation tower offered us breathtaking views of Goriška Brda and the surrounding area.

Lunch in the local guest house Pri Marjot was a real culinary delicacy, where we enjoyed not only the delicious dishes from Bri, but also the pleasant atmosphere, which was enhanced by the dance and sounds of Urhov’s accordion.

In the afternoon we explored the village of Šmartno, where we admired the house in Briška, a monument of local tradition. To conclude, we visited the Benedetič winery, where we enjoyed the beautiful views of the vineyards for the last time while tasting the wines. We ended the gathering in a relaxed atmosphere and headed back home full of beautiful impressions.

The excursion was a real hit and we look forward to future events that will also connect our members and explore the beauty of our country.
