Jurjevanje 2015 in Sveti Juri in Romania. The program is on these connection. The project is co-financed by the Europe for Citizens program:
Lot 2 – Democratic action and civic participation: The aim is to promote democratic and civilian participation of citizens at Union level.
Action: Twinning of cities

The main topic of the project is the promotion of the participation of European Union citizens within the framework of the Days of St. George 2015. The leading partner, the municipality of Sfantu Gheorghe, plans to organize a platform to exchange experiences with 10 partner cities from 6 countries that have similar experience in the field of urban development. This opportunity could be a great opportunity to present good experiences and to give guidelines for future projects. In addition, visiting cultural programs offers an opportunity to raise awareness of European values such as pluralism, solidarity, mutual understanding, tolerance and also mutual understanding between cultures.
Themes:
- the function of urban spaces to create a community
Urban spaces were originally created as a meeting point, the location of community celebrations, a forum for the preservation of traditions, a communication space between the inhabitants. Today, unfortunately, they lost their function of building a community, they became a transit city and became empty.
The goal is to present positive examples that, through infrastructural development, rehabilitation programs or cultural, and community projects, give importance to these spaces, so that residents are encouraged to use and function as a force of community cohesion.
- City and Identity
Part of our identity is the city we live in. The image of the city affects the behavior of the inhabitants, so it is important whether the image reflects signs of neglect or decay. In the relationship between the resident and his city, the past, present and future play an important role, so an important question is how much attention local authorities pay to the fact that residents should know the past of their city/place. The aim of the discussion is to present positive examples of the development and strengthening of the organic relationship between the city and its inhabitants.
- a place to live in through culture
Culture has always played an important role in the creation and transmission of values, and it also had the function of building a community. Culture makes it possible to get to know yourself and other people better. The goal of the discussion is to present positive examples in which culture plays an important role in creating a city in which life is pleasant.
At the event, the president of the association, Gabrijela (Jelka) Babič, presented our experiences on the topic: Community function in the design of urban spaces.
