On Breg pri Litija, the Laz Rural Development Association organized the 8th traditional Strawberry and Asparagus Day event on Sunday, May 29, 2016. The visit was good, but unfortunately the storm drove away the visitors in the second part of the afternoon, so the event ended earlier than in previous years. The event is one of the largest municipalities in Lithuania and is quite a big organizational challenge. As at last year’s event, the members of ŽRD Litija also helped with the implementation. The event also had a humanitarian note, with the help of KS and RK, part of the earnings from the event was intended for the purchase of a defibrillator.
The sunny weather and good food attracted a lot of visitors to the venue, who, in addition to the offer of fresh strawberries and asparagus, could also enjoy dishes from them. At the stalls, many craftsmen offered products of domestic and artificial crafts.
And while the members of ŽRD Litija provided dishes from the grill and drinks, the chef of the cafe at the bridge demonstrated his culinary skills in the preparation of various asparagus dishes. The cafe also had a delicious ice cream at its disposal, which was really nice at the high temperature.
And while the children could play on the playground or create art with one of the volunteers, the adults could spin to the sounds of the Lithuanian echo.
