Štefan’s meeting of locals in Jablaniška dolina, Wednesday, 26. 12. 2018

Also this year, the Association for Rural Development Laz organized a meeting of local residents of Jablaniška dolina, which was held on Wednesday, December 26, at the fire station in Zgornja Jablanica. The organizers ensured a good mood of all generations. At this year’s meeting, in addition to giving gifts to the youngest, we prepared an official takeover of the defibrillator, which will be installed on the facade of the fire station in Zgornja Jablanica. The manager of this will be PGD Jablanica.

The last days of December, between Christmas and New Year, are marked by three interesting folk holidays: St. Stephen’s Day, St. John’s Day and the Beating Day. On St. Stephen’s Day, horses, water and salt are still blessed in many Slovenian places. A field sprinkled with Stephen’s salt was once safe from storms, and burnt salt and burnt water helped in the treatment of human and livestock diseases.

And if we take time for our loved ones for Christmas Day, Štefan’s Day, the first day after Advent, is time for friends and socializing. A little older people say that the first day after Christmas is the time to ‘band’. For this purpose, the Laz Rural Development Association has been organizing a cultural and social event for 16 years in a row.

This year’s meeting was of special importance, as we handed over the management, maintenance and use of the Jablanica Volunteer Fire Brigade for the management, maintenance and use of defibrillators. The initiative to buy a defibrillator came from the old KO RK Jablanška dolina. Of course, in the LAZ association, we immediately supported the idea and got involved in the project. Since the costs are also associated with the purchase, quite a few donors responded to the initiative of KO RK Jablaniška dolina, including the LAZ association. The wish of all the inhabitants of the Jablanska dolina is that the defibrillator should serve its purpose and save lives and be used as little as possible.

The meeting was enriched with their cultural program by local musicians on accordion, guitar and double bass. Just like the musicians, we all listened to a theatrical performance, Pika writes to Santa Claus. The youngest were most pleased with the arrival of Santa Claus, gifts and delicious pancakes prepared by members of the LAZ association.

The organization of Štefan’s meeting was financially supported by the municipality of Šmartno pri Litija, for which the association thanks them.
