Štefan’s Meeting, December 26, 2016

On December 26, 2016, we gathered at the fire station in Zgornja Jablanica, as it was time for Štefan’s meeting again.

A varied cultural program for both the young and the young at heart began with puppeteers from the Lili puppet group from Litija, who performed the show Bear and the Umbrella for the youngest. The name of the puppet group is Lilu – a puzzle that means Lithuanian puppeteers.

This was followed by performances by local children, who showed their skills and knowledge in Show what you know. All participants received beautiful gifts, which was followed by the climax of the event with a visit from Santa Claus.

Santa Claus then gave gifts to everyone from the youngest to slightly older children, but he didn’t even forget about the older locals, to whom he brought something sweet on this occasion.

After the departure of Santa Claus, the dancers of the Vidovo Folklore Group also delighted the visitors, when they danced the Dolenjska and Belokrajna dances, played some folk customs and, of course, included visitors to the event in the program. When the cultural program ended, both the performers and the visitors were treated to delicacies (roasted apples, pancakes), wine baked by hard-working housewives and the hosts of the Laz Rural Development Association. Of course, homemade tea, mulled wine and aperitifs were also waiting for the visitors.

This meeting was marked by extremely beautiful weather, which made such a beautiful event a little more festive, but it also contributed to the fact that quite a few children from the surrounding villages were missing from the event this time. We hope to see you in even greater numbers next year!

The program of the meeting and gifting of children is made possible by the Municipality of Šmartno pri Litija, the organizer is the LAZ association.
