Second project meeting of the Europe for Citizens program, H2O – Involvement of citizens in the protection of water resources, May 24 – 26, 2017

The Sava River, which flows through Litija, was once an important source of river activities, but today it is usually only noticed when it floods. At that time, we are especially grateful to our fire brigades, who always come to the rescue. In recent years, there have been quite a few critical periods in the area of the municipality of Litija, when the Sava River crossed its banks, the last time in April 2017.

At the second project meeting, which took place in Prague between 24.5-26.5. 2017, all partner organizations from six countries presented flood measures and thus exchanged good practices. In addition, the organizer, the municipality of Prague: District 9, organized a visit to the microclimate event, which draws attention to the importance of environmental management and climate change, we saw a practical presentation of the fire department and their anti-flood measures, and visited the manufacturer of the floodgate, Japjacin.

The members of the LAZ association combined the useful with the pleasant and, in addition to attending the project meeting, also saw the sights of Prague and the towns of Kutno Hori and Češki Krumlov. The next project meeting will be hosted by the Bulgarian partners in September.
