The ninth-graders of Gradec Elementary School from Litija take part in a cultural day every year on the Slovenian cultural holiday. On this occasion, they visit local cultural points such as the Litija Museum, where several different thematic collections are located, as well as the permanent collection of Sava pebbles on Breg pri Litija. The performer of the mentioned cultural day is the LAZ association, which is also the manager of the collection of Sava pebbles.
When the students arrive in the village of Breg, the representative of the Laz association, Mojca Hauptman, is presented to the group by La Lego village, its characteristics, which are connected to the Sava River, and then together they went for a walk through the village all the way to Tenetiš, where the permanent collection is home to the fire station Sava pebbles. During the journey, attention was focused on the architecture of the old houses, the church of St. Katarine and many fountains – ‘stirne’ that adorn the village courtyards.
Upon arrival in the permanent collection of pebbles, the students watched a short film about the creation of a unique collection of this kind in the world, and then they were treated to professional guidance under the guidance of geologist Maja Simončič Tekavec. With the prior knowledge of geology that the students acquired at school, the collection with 300 copies was very interesting to them. The ninth graders from Litija were wonderful guests.
To conclude, the group went to the neighboring Paternoster farm, where they are engaged in milk processing. Recently, but also with tourism. While drinking herbal tea, they listened to the presentation of activities on the farm and then saw the kaiža and shared beds in the hayloft in the former farm building. Kudos to the school management for choosing to visit local attractions to hold a cultural day.
