Elementary school students came to see Savska prodnike on February 07, 2017

On Tuesday, February 7, 2017, we had a visit from two ninth-grader groups from Gradec Elementary School at the fire station in Breg pri Litija, who came as part of the cultural day for a guided tour of the permanent collection of Sava pebbles.

Pupils of Elementary School Gradec from Litija watched with interest a film about the creation of the collection of Sava pebbles.

The Laz Rural Development Association manages a permanent collection of Sava pebbles, which is a unique collection of its kind in the world.

Pebbles in exhibition showcases

More than 300 typical and unique rock examples from the rich geological heritage of the Sava river basin are on display. The entire collection includes more than 1,200 different specimens. The rocks were formed during almost 400 million years of the turbulent geological history of this area. The named specimens in 12 showcases are classified according to the way and environment of their origin. They are accompanied by a popular explanation. With the introductory audiovisual presentation, we get to know the visitors through the methods of recognition, the way and environment of creation and the ‘life stories’ of some of the most interesting ones. Therefore, the collection is particularly useful for educational purposes.

The students walked through the village of Breg and discovered cultural attractions.
